Basketball Drill of the Week: King of the Court
King of the Court is a great game to test out your skills and work on your 1-on-1 game.
Do you want to work on your 1-on-1 basketball skills?
Here’s a great game that’ll allow you to do that.
It’s called King of the Court and almost every basketball player plays it (Team USA players like to play it during shootarounds to compete with one another and to have fun with their friends).
It’s basically a multiplayer 1-on-1 game and whoever reaches a goal score first (normally it’s 7 points) wins the game.
Here’s how to play King of the Court (or Ones):
Decide who gets the ball first and who will be the first challenger. You can do this by do-or-die or flipping a coin -it doesn’t matter.
If the player with possession scores, he gets to keep going; he is still the king and needs to be dethroned by a new challenger/defender.
But if he misses, the defender gets the ball and is the new king.
However, there are different takes on this rule. Some people keep the matchup going until someone scores. But this is how I like to play it because my cardio be bad.
Anywhoo, repeat these steps until someone scores 7 points (or whatever goal score you want).
