Basketball Drill of the Week: Power Skips
Here’s a fantastic drill to help you increase your vertical.
Do you want to be more explosive, jump higher and have more stamina in your legs? Do you want to be bouncy and play like Ja Morant?
Well, this drill is for you. It’s called Power Skips and will strengthen your legs, core, and develop power in your lower body.
It will also improve your single-leg jumps.
Here’s how to do power skips:
Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart.
Raise your right knee and right arm and jump with your left knee.
Reset.
Now, raise your left knee and left arm, and jump with your right leg.
Once you’re comfortable and have the pattern down, do the jumps continuously.
Start with 3 sets of 20 (10 per leg) and try to jump higher each set.
This exercise is great for conditioning your body to jump higher for layups and taking more contact as you do so.
Power skips can also help you with rebounding and contesting shots.
