Basketball Drill of the Week: Rip Hamilton Workout
Here’s a great drill for practicing cutting and off-ball movement.
Have you ever seen Richard Hamilton play?
He was a very active player who was constantly moving without the ball on offence.
Hamilton was a master at cutting and he frequently got open shots because of it.
These open looks helped his team, the Detroit Pistons, win the 2004 NBA championship title. He was also a 3-time NBA All-Star.
So, here’s the drill Rip Hamilton did to practice off-ball movement:
Key Notes:
Use imagination to create different scenarios
Set goal to make x amount of shots
Can set chairs in different places to work on various shots once the original setting is comfortable
You can use Hamilton’s patterns or make your own
