Dwight Howard Is Taking His Talents To Asia
Looks like Dwight Howard is joining the Taoyuan Leopards.
During the NBA Media Days back in October, Dwight Howard sat down with Shannon Sharpe on the Club Shay Shay podcast and talked about his disappointment towards teams that aren’t giving him a job.
He listed multiple teams that he wanted to join, such as the Boston Celtics and Golden State Warriors, to name a couple, and shared how he can help them win.
He also talked about how he wants to come back for his 19th -and final- NBA season and go out with a bang.
“I would love to play season 19,” Howard said. “And go out on top, you know what I’m saying. I would definitely love to do that -that would be amazing. And get a parade like I deserve… I never had a parade in the NBA even after we won the championship.”
Well, after roughly a month of waiting for NBA teams to offer him a contract, it looks like Howard has changed gears and will be trying to get his parade elsewhere (or more specifically, on a different continent).
Earlier this week, it was reported that the 3-time Defensive Player of the Year will be heading to Taiwan to play for the Taoyuan Leopards.
Howard, in a social media post, said that he was excited to join the team.
Via ESPN:
"I am so so excited, and I can't wait to touch down in Taiwan and start playing," Howard said. "I'm coming with open arms, with big hugs and big smiles."
The Leopards compete in the T1 League, a Taiwanese professional basketball league that was founded in 2021.
Last season, the Leopards went 8-22 and failed to make the postseason.
Hopefully, Howard can help them win a championship title in the upcoming season and get his final celebration before he hangs up his sneakers.
