Making Changes
I’m making some changes to the Old Man Game Newsletter…
As you know, The Old Man Game Newsletter is about basketball.
Basketball is what I’ve been writing about here since I published my first story late in 2021.
But as time has passed and as I read
’s, ’s, and ’ newsletters, I’ve been getting this itch to write about more things; I’ve been wanting to share more topics I’m interested in.I’ve been refraining from doing this because I keep hearing people say, “the riches are in the niches,” and that it’s very difficult to grow a general newsletter.
But to be honest, it’s just hard to grow a newsletter in general.
I’ve been at this for a while, consistently publishing a story a week (at minimum) and I’m not growing nearly at the rate I thought I’d be.
And the more I follow this rule of niches and focus on subscriber count, the more the fun gets sucked out from this process.
So, I’m putting up a middle finger to the algorithm, telling it, “this is my newsletter,” and I’m going to start publishing non-basketball-related stories here.
I plan on sharing stories about books, movies, TV shows, and video games I enjoyed (or hated).
However, the main topic of this newsletter will continue to be basketball. I’m just publishing other stuff -every now and then- as well.
I just wanted to notify you so that you won’t be caught off guard when a story titled “The 3 Best Books I Read in 2024” pops up in your notifications.
Additionally, I want to take this time to thank all of the subscribers I have and all of the people who read my stories.
I appreciate you taking the time to read my stories and I hope you enjoy them. I hope they put a smile on your face and take you away from whatever you’re dealing with, even if it’s for a short moment.
