Paul George on Derrick Rose’s Dominance in MVP Season
D Rose was something else in his third season.
Derrick Rose was a magician on the court.
He was a phenomenal finisher around the rim and was a dominant scorer.
During his MVP season, I swear he led every Top 10 Plays of the Night on the nights he played (or at least that’s what it seemed like).
But what made him so special? What made D Rose a guy that’s still being talked about a decade later?
Well, according to Paul George, what makes Rose so fun to watch -and hard to defend- is that he was explosive and elegant, which made him unguardable.

On the Podcast P with Paul George show, he pretty much told the hosts that Rose was Spider-Man.
“What made D Rose so special was he had that bully in him. He was bigger body, he was quick, he was fast, his first step was like -he was going to blow by you- and his ability to contort his body,” George said.
“Like, he would do some s—t where he’ll start here, come back this way, and finish back over here. He just has so much s—t that he can do in the air to where he was literally just dodging people; like just jumping in the air, dodging you. It was like he was just floating in the air.”
George also added that Rose was a silent assassin who just played basketball and didn’t talk any trash.
“And that’s what f—ks you up too because he was such a good dude. He didn’t trash talk. He didn’t say s—t. It wasn’t even little jabs. He didn’t say nothing -he just hooped and you respected it.”
In his MVP season back in 2010-11, Rose averaged 25 points on 45 percent shooting, 7.7 assists, and 4.1 rebounds. He also led the Chicago Bulls to 62 wins and to the Eastern Conference Finals, where they lost to the Miami Heat.
Final Thoughts
D Rose was great! Sucks that he got injured so early in his career though.
But at least his career didn’t end and he was still able to play in the NBA for many more seasons (while having some good seasons too).
