Sabrina Ionescu has been having a hell of a season.
Earlier this year, on July 14, she beat Steph Curry’s 3-point contest record -which was the highest in both leagues- by out-scoring “this generation’s greatest shooter” 37 to 31.
Additionally, she made 25 out of 27 shots in the final round of the competition.
Then a few weeks later, on Sept. 7, she went out and broke the WNBA 3-point record.
In a heated game against the Los Angeles Sparks, Ionescu made four 3-pointers to increase her season total to 124, topping Diana Taurasi’s 121 -the long-held season-high total.

"It's an honour, any time you're able to pass arguably the greatest basketball player that ever played in the WNBA," Ionescu said.
Additionally, the New York Liberty beat the Sparks 96-89 to help them pull closer to the defending champs and top-seeded Las Vegas Aces.
This season, Ionescu is averaging 17 points, 5.6 rebounds, 5.4 assists, and 1 steal per game, good enough to be selected to the All-AP Second Team for the second consecutive year.
However, Ionescu didn’t just start causing havoc in the WNBA this season.
She has been working on building her legendary career ever since 2021.
In her sophomore season, she became the youngest player to record a triple-double with 26 points, 12 assists, and 10 rebounds. And to make this accomplishment sweeter, it was the first trip-dub in Liberty history.
A year later, Ionescu followed that fantastic performance up by scoring 31 points, grabbing 13 rebounds, and dishing out 10 assists to record the first 30-point triple-double in WNBA history.
She’s breaking all of these records and she’s only been playing professional basketball for four seasons.
Let’s see if she can add another accolade to her trophy case by winning a championship this season.
That would be pretty awesome.
