Shaquille O’Neal played for a lot of teams in the NBA.

He’s suited up for teams in Florida, California, Arizona, Ohio, and Massachusetts.

But when asked which team was his favourite to play for, he only gave two cities -Los Angeles and Miami.

On Logan Paul’s podcast, IMPAULSIVE, Shaq said he was grateful for having the opportunity to learn under Phil Jackson in L.A., which led to his dreams coming true.

“Probably the Lakers because when Phil Jackson came in, he taught us to get over the hump. After we got over the hump, we just knocked off three straight. Then Miami would be my second team. But just having the opportunity, especially as a high juvenile delinquent, to fulfill my dream and play was great. But my favourite team would probably be the Lakers.”

Both of these teams are obvious answers.

With the Los Angeles Lakers, Shaq was in his prime and, along with Kobe Bryant, ran the NBA.

They won back-to-back-to-back championship titles and were perennial contenders every season for 5 straight seasons.

Shaq was also regarded as the most dominant big man during his time in L.A. -something he began to strive for when he was a pre-teen.

He won the MVP award in 2000, was an All-Star every year he played for the team, and was an annual All-NBA player and a three-time All-Defensive player.

And additionally, he played with his favourite teammate, Rick Fox, here.

With the Miami Heat, he made a return to Florida and linked up with a young Dwyane Wade.

Together, they brought home a Larry O’Brien Trophy to the city of Miami.

Shaq was also a perennial All-Star during his three-year campaign with the Heat and was a two-time All-NBA player.

Final Thoughts

Shaq is a legend.

And he definitely became one because of all the accomplishments he achieved with the Los Angeles Lakers and the Miami Heat.
