Should The Warriors Get A New Coach?
They’ve been struggling this season and Boogie Cousins believes making a big change is necessary.
The Golden State Warriors have not been playing with their Championship DNA as of late.
They started the season off hot, winning 6 out of 8 games, and every Golden State fan was hooting and hollering as they believed the Warriors were back to their dominating selves.
But since Nov. 8, the team has cooled down significantly, to where their current record is 16-18.
So what’s wrong with this dynasty?
Is it the aging players? Or is it the outdated system and playbook?
According to DeMarcus Cousins, who was once part of the Warriors’ roster, Golden State should not trade away the core of Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green.
However, he believes they should consider getting a new head coach.
On the BULLY BALL with Rachel and Boogie show, Cousins, who compared Team USA’s poor outing this past summer to the Warriors’ current struggles, told Rachel Nichols that there’s only one “common denominator” in those two teams and that’s Steve Kerr.
“No, I don’t think anybody should be traded,” Cousins said. “I’m going out on a limb saying this, we go back to the previous summer, we watch Team USA, they struggled. And there’s no reason for that. And there’s only one common denominator in that equation and that’s Steve Kerr. Maybe it’s time for new leadership in this Warriors locker room.”
Cousins added that changing up the coaching staff could help the Warriors because “even the Apple iPhone gets an update.”
“The reason I say that -even Apple, even the Apple iPhone gets an update, you know what I mean? So, it’s time for the Warriors to update this team [with] a new identity, a new system, something to get this core group over the hump.”
Golden State made changes to their organization last summer when long-time Warriors’ president and general manager Bob Myers stepped down.
He was the architect behind the Warriors’ four NBA championship titles.
But with an expiring contract and the team’s struggles, he felt it was time for him to move on and let someone new take over.
However, based on how this season has gone so far, that one big change was not enough.
So, what should the Golden State Warriors do next? Trade away stars, get a new coach or stick with this roster and develop the young players?
What do you think their next move should be?
