Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors faced off against the Boston Celtics on Tuesday and it didn’t look like they had a chance to win.
Curry got into foul trouble early in the game and couldn’t play many minutes in the critical third quarter.
Additionally, the Celtics, who led the majority of the game, kept on attacking. They didn’t give their opponents any slack.
Golden State would’ve given up at the start of the fourth quarter if they were any other team. They would’ve chalked up the loss as a learning opportunity.
But not the Warriors. They have champion DNA.
After going on a little run late in the third quarter to cut the lead down to 11, Steve Kerr plugged in Curry -who had 5 fouls- to take Golden State to the finish line.
The Celtics knew what Curry was made of so they targeted him and tried to get him fouled out.
But it didn’t phase him -Curry went on and played without fear (well, on the offensive end; he was a little hesitant and less aggressive on defence).
He knocked down big shots and made plays (13 points and 4 assists) and by the end of the fourth, the game was all tied up.
Curry carried this confidence with him into overtime.
The game was back and forth early in the quarter and neither team was able to go on a scoring run. But as time passed, Curry knew he had to step up and take over.
And boy did he.
He scored a total of 7 points, which included a huge dagger that forced the Celtics to hit the hay.
With his 33-point performance, Golden State was able to take Boston down 132-126.
Oh, one more thing: rookie Trayce Jackson-Davis also played a huge role late in this victory.
He denied big shots and secured major rebounds down the line and recorded a total of 10 points, 13 rebounds and 3 blocks.
So, props to him as well.
