The Celtics Are 1 Win Away From Winning The Championship
Boston takes Game 3 from Dallas in a close game.
Basketball is a game of runs.
And I’m not talking about the Paul Pierce type of runs. I’m talking about teams gaining momentum and catching fire.
Anywhoo, Game 3 of the NBA Finals can be defined by runs.
It started as a back-and-forth game. Watching it, it seemed like the Dallas Mavericks were going to notch their first win of the series.
But then the third quarter happened.
And when it did, it really seemed like the Mavs were not going to get their first win of the series and that the Celtics were going to go up 3-0 because heading into the fourth quarter, the Celtics had a 15-point lead.
Boston had outscored Dallas 35-19 on this run and it seemed like they secured the victory.
But then the last half of the fourth quarter happened.
The Mavs discombobulated the Celtics and went on a huge 20-2 run to cut the lead down to 3 points.
Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving were on fire. They were simultaneously in the zone and Super Saiyan mode. They wanted that win. The fans in the arena wanted that win.
And they could’ve gotten it too if Luka didn’t foul out.
With roughly 4 minutes left in the game, Luka tried to take a charge from Jaylen Brown, but his feet weren’t completely set and the referees deemed it a blocking foul.
Luckily for them, the Mavs had more than one star.
Kyrie stepped up to the plate and did all he could to prevent the loss.
But the Celtics, with Brown, Jayson Tatum, Jrue Holiday, Derrick White and Al Horford, were too stacked and the lone ranger couldn’t carry his team to the finish line.
The Celtics took the game 106-99.
For the Celtics:
Brown recorded 30 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists.
Tatum recorded 31 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists.
White recorded 16 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists.
For the Mavs:
Doncic recorded 27 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists.
Irving recorded a game-high 35 points.
P.J. Washington recorded 13 points and 8 rebounds.
Boston will look to finish off their opponents on Friday in Game 4, while Dallas will be doing all they can to prevent getting swept in this elimination game.
