All-Star Weekend has always been one of my favourite times of the year.
Not only does it coincide with a long weekend where I’m from, but it -how can I put it…
I just love NBA All-Star Weekend!
The entire weekend is pure fun. You get to see the best of the best do special things. And when special things aren’t done, the commentators make fun of the players, which is really funny.
But enough of this adoration -here are 5 of my favourite things from All-Star Weekend:
1) Trey Murphy’s First Dunk
Okay, so I know he didn’t win. And I know Mac McClung threw down some electrifying dunks. And his dunks were great.
But Trey Murphy’s first dunk was entertaining and funny. He and Jose Alvarado put creativity into the entire performance and I didn’t expect it.
Oh, and the dunk was awesome, too.
2) The Commentators' Comments Throughout the Skills Challenge
What some of these guys said was hilarious.
They teased not only the contestants but also themselves. And some of the remarks were vicious (again, with the players and themselves)!
It was so funny.
And when the Inside Guys crew celebrated Charles Barkley’s birthday? Gold.
3) Guillermo In The Celeb Game
Who doesn’t love Guillermo?
And the coolest thing about him participating in the Celeb Game is that he actually tried. He didn’t do very well, but, boy, did he try.
And he also tried to give Shaq a pizza.
4) Jokic Being The Joker
Everything Nikola Jokic did during the All-Star Game was funny.
He drafted himself to Team LeBron (even though he didn’t realize that there was one more player in the lottery and felt bad), he missed all of the open alley-oops that were tossed to him and he mocked himself for his poor performance.
So Jokic.
5) Luka Being Mic’d Up
Luka Doncic is such a down-to-earth guy, and it really showed during his mic’d up portion of the game. And like Jokic, he also makes fun of himself.
Example: After Ja Morant did a reverse pump dunk, Luka was telling the Grizzlies’ star that he could also do it, knowing that he, indeed, cannot.
Final Thoughts
All-Star Weekend was fun and these were my favourite parts of the three-day event.
