I was intending on writing a Mailtime for this week’s Old Man Game newsletter, but the NBA was bonkers this week!
There were players breaking records left and right.
Like, LeBron James became the first player in NBA history to record 30K points, 10K rebounds, and 10K assists.
That’s greatness right there!
(Now, if only he can get the Lakers to click so that they can make it to the playoffs…)
And Karl-Anthony Towns went to town (pun intended) on the San Antonio Spurs to score 60 points… the most points this season by a single player.
After the game, he dedicated the achievement to his mother in a heartfelt tweet, which you should definitely go read here.
And Kyrie Irving, imitating Mr. KAT, also scored 60 points a day later to help the Brooklyn Nets dominate (and when I say dominate, I mean DOMINATE) the Orlando Magic.
You may now be thinking that that’s all that went on. All of that in itself is a crazy week in NBA land already.
But, NOPE. More wildness ensued.
However, this isn’t a player or team breaking a record. It’s more so something that’s happened for the first time ever in NBA history (probably).
The Memphis Grizzlies and OKC Thunder confused everyone by both wearing their white uniforms to the game.
This has to definitely be the first time this has happened, right?
What else happened? What else happened?
Oh yeah, Steph Curry’s birthday… Draymond Green returned and clicked with the team as if he never missed time, and Curry poured out 47 birthday buckets to beat the Washinton Wizards.
However, a few days later, Curry suffered a foot injury and is going to have to miss some time. Additionally, his recovery time is unknown.
This sucks! I really wanted to see him and the Warriors in the playoffs. Hopefully, he has a speedy recovery.
Final Thoughts
It was such a great week for NBA fans. The players were BALLIN!
But I wonder if this trend will continue until the end of the season?
Anyway, what was your favourite NBA event from this week?
