Now, onto the article you came here to read…
Whoever told you playing video games is a waste of time is a dumbass (unless they’re your parent or guardian or coach or teacher or any adult with authority, that is).
Here’s why: The Indiana Pacers’ Tyrese Haliburton has been playing insanely well in his last two outings and he attributed his basketball god-like play to video games.
Via The Ringer:
“Honestly, a lot of my hoop knowledge in knowing how to play comes from video games,” he says. “When you’re playing 2K and you’re on that camera angle where you can see everything ahead of you, that’s how I think sometimes.”
The Pacers played the Philadelphia 76ers in their last two games and Haliburton (or Hali-God as someone in the YouTube comments section called him) dished out 32 assists without committing any turnovers. He also scored 38 points in the process.
(You can watch his handiwork here.)
And apparently, he’s the only player in NBA history to have recorded this many assists without getting a turnover.
But if you think that’s wild, it gets more insane.
According to Pacers’ beat analyst Caitlyn Cooper, Haliburton made 149 passes during the span of those two games without messing up once.
Yeah, you read that correctly -149 passes, no turnovers.
I can’t even pee 149 times without missing the toilet at least 3 times (and this is something I’ve been working on for decades!).
Tyrese Haliburton is good. Like, really good.
However, it’s still early in the season, so we can’t say he’s the next Point God quite yet.
But let’s hope he continues to play well so we can use him as an example of how video games develop exemplary people.
