The Nuggets and Suns are Playing Each Other Next. Who’s Moving On?
I like both of these teams, but only one can win.
Welp, I didn’t want this to happen, but it looks like the Denver Nuggets and the Phoenix Suns will be playing in the next round of the playoffs.
The Nuggets beat the Minnesota Timberwolves 4-1 and the Suns beat the Los Angeles Clippers 4-1.
I like both of these teams but I’ll try to be objective with my decision on who I think will win.
So, the two teams played each other four times during the regular season and each team won twice. The Nuggets won the first two games and the Suns won the last two.
But in the first two times that they played, the Suns didn’t have Kevin Durant.
And as we know, having KD makes a huge difference as the team was undefeated when Durant was in the line-up.

But- and this is me being one of those people who makes excuses with “buts” even though the result is the result- the last two games were close and it was when Denver was going through their losing slump.
Denver is clearly no longer in their slump. They hustled on both ends of the floor to decisively beat the Timberwolves.
Thus, both teams will be entering the next round at full strength.
So, who will win?
Well, I think… this is hard. Why can’t it be like the UFC where draws are a thing?
Damn. Okay…
I’ll go with the Suns.
The main reason is that I want Chris Paul to get a championship and his window is quickly closing, which makes my decision not objective.
But also, the Suns have KD. And Devin Booker. And the aforementioned Paul.
I’m not entirely sure if the Nuggets have enough defence to combat that offensive firepower.
But who knows, maybe they’ll copy the Boston Celtics’ defensive strategy from the last post-season when they played the Brooklyn Nets and wear out the Suns’ primary scorers.
And if that were the case, then the Nuggets will win and I’ll be happy with that too because I’m one of those sports fans who likes more than one team.
Additionally, I -objectively and subjectively- think that whoever wins this series will be the team that heads to the Finals.
Both teams have been playing well and they are just in tune and clicking.
So, yeah.
Gilbert Arenas of Why Some Players Can’t Shoot
Anyway, I also wanted to share this clip from the No Chill with Gilbert Arenas podcast.
In it, Arenas and Lethal Shooter talked about why Ben Simmons and Russell Westbrook aren’t good shooters.
Their reasoning was thought-provoking and I had never heard anyone talk about it in that way before.
So, check it out:
Final Thoughts
Okay, that’s all I wanted to talk about in this newsletter.
But before you leave, here’s a question for you: Which two teams do you think will make it to the Finals this year?
