The Origin of the White Mamba
Here’s the legend of the White Mamba.
Do you remember who Brian Scalabrine is?
He was an NBA player who won an NBA championship back in 2008 with the Boston Celtics.
He also played 10 seasons in the league with various other teams, such as the New Jersey Nets and Chicago Bulls.
But if you don’t remember him as a player (he played from 2001-2012), then maybe you’ll recognize this quote:
“I am way closer to LeBron than you are to me.”
Yup, he was the one to say that.
He also said this famous quote:
“I may suck for an NBA player -those guys are pretty good - but I don’t suck compared to you. You -you suck compared to me.”
However, if you don’t recognize any of those quotes, maybe you’ve heard of the White Mamba… which is actually him.
So, how does a guy who has career averages of 3.1 points and 2 rebounds per game, and was never an All-Star receive a nickname that’s related to one of the greatest to ever play?
Well, it’s a pretty funny story.
