Who Are The Top 5 GOATs Since ‘96? | Weekly Round-Up
Here are the most crucial NBA news (based on my opinion) from the week
Hey all,
Over the past couple of weeks, the NBA world has been filled with discussions of who the greatest players of all time are. I kind of chimed in as well in last week’s newsletter.
But for this issue, I want to go into more depth. I’m actually going to share my list of the 5 NBA GOATs. However, it is going to only consist of the players that I actually watched play -not players from way, way before my time.
So, it is going to only have NBA players who were playing in 1996 and beyond (played, not drafted), the year I started watching basketball.
In order of greatness:

LeBron James - (4x NBA Champion, 4x NBA Finals MVP, 4x MVP, 17x NBA All-Star, 17x All-NBA, 5x All-Defensive, ‘08 Scoring Champ, ‘20 Assists Leader)
Tim Duncan - (5x NBA Champion, 3x NBA Finals MVP, 2x MVP, 15x NBA All-Star, 15x All-NBA, 15x All-Defensive, ‘15 Teammate of the Year)

Jeff Van Gundy Went At COVID Vaccine Skeptics Who Say They’re ‘Doing My Own Research’
Even though the majority of the players in the NBA have gotten vaccinated, there are still some names, big and small, that are refusing to get it. One name being Kyrie Irving, who won’t be allowed to join his team (in practices or games) until he gets the vaccine. Former coach and commentator Jeff Van Gundy takes issue with these types of players -players who say that they are doing their own research on the vaccine.
“I would like someone to answer this question: What does that look like, you doing your own research?” Van Gundy said. “Are you doing studies yourself? Are you in the lab on a nightly basis? What are you doing? I don’t understand what that means, ‘I’m doing my own research.’ How about this, we got smart people, a lot smarter than anybody in the NBA, who’s already done the research.”
