Basketball Drill of the Week: The Stockton Drill
Here's a drill that the Utah Jazz often used to condition their players.
(Last week’s drill: Steve Nash Shooting Drill)
The Stockton Drill was an exercise the Utah Jazz used to see how conditioned a player was.
The player had to dribble the length of the court, make a lay-up, and repeat on the other end of the court.
And to make things more difficult, the player was timed.
This is a drill that you should do because it works on your ball-handling, lay-ups, conditioning and scoring under pressure.
Here’s how to do it:
Starting on the baseline, dribble down to the other end of the court as quickly as possible.
Once there, make a layup.
Now, rebound your shot and dribble back to the other end of the court.
Make another layup.
That’s one set. Try to do 3 sets in total.
If you miss layups on either end of the court, keep shooting close shots until you score.
Timing yourself is optional.
