Giannis On What It Takes To Be Succesful
Giannis Antetokounmpo gives his two cents on what it takes to reach greatness in the NBA.
Being skilled is not enough.
If you want to be great and successful, just possessing the skills is not going to get you anywhere.
This is what the Milwaukee Bucks' Giannis Antetokounmpo said during an interview with SiriusXM NBA Radio.
"It takes more than skills to be great. That's what people don't understand. You can be the most skilled person on earth & still don't make the NBA. The NBA is not about skills."
He also admitted to them that he is not the most skilled player. He said that he doesn’t have the best long-distance shooting or handles.
But the reason why the two-time MVP and one-time Finals MVP has been so successful in the NBA is because of his dedication to the game.
“The thing that makes me a step further than people is the obsession and discipline towards the game. Not my skills.”
Giannis also talked about how some of the legends of the sport became legends of the sport.
"When you think about LeBron you think about consistency. He's been great for 20 years. Think about MJ. Edge! Getting better. Obsession. Kobe! Obsession."

Giannis was not the dominant player you see today when he entered the league in 2013.
He was this lengthy, scrawny teen who couldn’t do very much on the hardwood. But what got him to this point in his career, where he is considered to be a top 5 player, is his work ethic and drive.
So, if you want to take anything from this article, it’s that you need to put in the work. The skill will help you progress quicker than others, but you still need to punch in your hours.
Hard workers with little to no skill can develop your level of skill and can surpass you.
That’s why if you want to be great and/or successful, you have to put in the work and continue to improve, regardless of where your skill level is at.
